Our history
SMALL ACTIONS CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
The textile industry is responsible for around 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions and is one of the world's most polluting industries. At the same time, approximately 65% of all textiles consist of synthetic materials that do not break down in nature.
We make a conscious choice by using pure, natural fibers and surplus materials in our production. Natural fibers require less water, are processed with fewer harmful chemicals, and are both biodegradable and recyclable.
Our goal is to inspire more conscious choices and show that quality products can be created without unnecessarily burdening the environment. Whether we transform existing materials into new products or work with sustainable natural materials from the start, we contribute to a more circular economy. Small choices in everyday life can make a big difference – for both people and the environment.

It was precisely the idea that even the small things can create big positive changes that inspired us, Line Houge and Janicke Lorange, to start Smallmatters in 2018.
Line has a solid background as a designer, product developer and buyer in large companies. She also founded and ran the clothing brand ChillNorway for 12 years, where she won the Gazelle Award and was nominated for the Norwegian Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011. Janicke has extensive experience in marketing, product and business development, as well as running her own company with outdoor toys for children.
We saw how our shared experience in design, product development and branding could be combined to show that a simple business idea can be both profitable and sustainable. Our goal is to create attractive, high-quality products that make it easy for you to choose the most environmentally friendly options. We continue to look for existing textiles that are currently defined as waste, but that can be transformed into new, high-quality products.

With support from both Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Trade Environmental Fund and the Research Council, we want to make a difference and hope you will take part in our journey.
Greetings Line and Janicke
