The impact of the textile industry on the environment

The textile industry is responsible, according to the UN, for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The industry emits more than air traffic and shipping combined. The fashion industry produces 20% of the world's wastewater, and more than 90% of the environmental impact occurs in the production of the textile itself. At the same time, enormous amounts of fully usable textiles are thrown away.
